Flea Market Finds

I so, so, so love a good flea market. Every Tuesday from May to October, La Chute hosts a flea market as big as a football field. Awesome junk from aisle to aisle and the 'assortment' changes weekly. Well, just like any flea market, you never know what you will find. This year, I finally found an old flour sack and this super cool school writing slate.

Also found this candy dish which works so well with the colors of my finally furnished living room.

I also wanted to find a bench/seat for the laptop desk in the family room. The room is small so a bench which would tuck under the desk was perfect. I found this walnut seat....

....added a bit of piant, a bit of fabric and a bit of distressing and now check it out!

But my greatest find, or best idea so far, came from a bunch of old, dove-tailed wood crates.

I have used these in the past to hold chipboard letters and scrappy stuff in my studio. Two tuesdays ago, I went to the flea market and bought about three more crates. Decided I needed a few more to create the 'look' I was after, so of course, I headed back out to the flea market (ps..it's not close either, a good hour and a half away but I was determined to make this work!). So from these old crates, we created a bookcase. My dad (who is extremely handy and talented) helped me create the base for the bookcase and presto and voila, we made this bookcase and filled a wall in the living room at the same time. Now I just have to head back to the flea market one more time :) to pick up some old books and treasures to fill the case.

Hope you are all enjoying the long weekend and thanks so much for stopping by!
